Playoff Vegas Odds

by The Executive Director

So here we are, playoff time. For the seven franchises on the outside looking in, the season is over. But it might be beneficial to pay attention to the playoff strategy. Less games to bet as the weeks go on, and those who fall behind must bet opposite the leaders. All five in the playoffs are back to $0, same betting rules apply until the Super Bowl. Percentages are no longer the tiebreaker (this will be explained Super Bowl week). Here’s a look at handicapping the playoff teams and there chances of winning it all.

Chris B. Corey: Came on strong towards the end of the year, but at times relied too much on Indianapolis and his man crush, Reggie Wayne.
Odds to win: 6-1

Teddy KGB: Tardiness almost cost him the playoffs and having his wife make his picks for him might not bode well for him in crunch time.
Odds to win: 10-1

Blossom Russo: Hanging on by a thread, the Weasel won the outright title, yet was basically even for the last seven weeks of the season. He might be the hungriest of the playoff teams, hungry not only for cash, but also for pizza (scams) and burritos.
Odds to win: 3-1

Gordon Bombay: Much like Blossom Russo, Gordon Bombay relied on his lead the second half of the year, almost stumbling down the stretch. His system of betting four games on many weeks will be tested once there are a limited amount of games to bet. And he lives with Don Mattingly, which can only deter him from concentrating on picking winners.
Odds to win: 7-1

The People’s Champ: The odds on favorite going into the postseason, The People’s Champ weathered the storm late in the regular season to sneak into the playoffs. He might be the most dangerous of any of the teams, since his winning goes in streaks. As long as he starts out hot, he won’t be caught (like his Yankees did last season, losing to the Tribe in four games).
Odds to win: 2-1
