The Top Ten: Week 17

by The Executive Director

Commentary: With just one week left in the regular season, the only divisional race that has been decided is the West, where Teddy KGB ran away with the crown. In every other division, there is still something to play for, and because there are some wild card bets still floating around, the overall title has not been decided yet, though Kimmy Gibbler looks tough to bet right now.

In the battle for the final playoff spot, Rick Moranis, Ron Mexico, and Kenny Powers each need a big Week 17 performance and to hope that Mr. Marbles, Gordon Bombay, or The Phoenix falter down the stretch. Face and Art Schlichter also still have a shot, but need to have a lot of things happen for them on top of winning $500 this week. Boss Hardigan has a miniscule chance, too, since he can use his wild card bet this week. But, he would need to win $1,000 and have Mr. Marbles lose $500, and on top of that, pass all of the franchises just listed.

Speaking of wild card bets, here’s who still can use the big one in Week 17:

East: None
North: Bayonnaise; Boss Hardigan
South: Kiko Garcia; The 21th Precinct; The Notorious ABT; Will Cover
West: None

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($1,700; 1)
Kimmy extended her lead in the division and the for the overall title, but she’s not out of the woods yet. She won $500 and will surely make the playoffs, but just has one more week to collect the big cash prize before the playoffs.

2. Kiko Garcia ($800; 3)
Kiko won $300 and clinched a playoff spot. Since he has his wild card bet left, he can still overtake Kimmy for the division and overall titles. Worst case scenario, if Kiko lost $1,000, he would still make the postseason.

3. Teddy KGB ($500; 2)
Teddy has clinched his division and will be returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2007 (the inaugural FMFL season). He’s been able to rise above the fray in the West and could be the sole representation for the division in the playoffs.

4. Bayonnaise ($400; 4)
Bayonnaise won $100 and remains first in the North. More importantly, when San Francisco failed to cover on MNF, his lead over The Phoenix grew to $600. The ‘Naise still has his wild card bet left and a playoff spot clinched, and could catch Kimmy if the chips fell the right way, but he will likely take the conservative approach and try to protect his division lead.

5. Will Cover ($100; 5)
Will went up $100 and is another top ten franchise that hasn’t used his wild card bet. He’s likely to go without it in 2013. If he doesn’t use it, he’s clinched a playoff spot. If he uses it, he opens himself up to the possibility of missing the playoffs.

6. Karl Farbman ($0; 8)
A huge week for Karl, as he won $500 and took control of the East. Karl has clinched a playoff spot and has a $400 lead on Bombay with one week to go.

7. The Phoenix (-$200; 7)
The Phoenix will look at Week 16 as a missed opportunity, as noted above. He won $100 but a Monday night win could have put him right up against Bayonnaise in the division race. The Phoenix hasn’t clinched a playoff spot yet. If he loses $500, it opens the door for someone to catch him in the wild card chase. But if he wins $500, he could overtake Bayonnaise for the North title. He seems to be between a rock and a hard place heading into Week 17.

8. Gordon Bombay (-$400; 6)
The bad news is that Gordon lost $300 and dropped back to second place in the East. But the good news is that he’s still in playoff position and only $400 behind Farbman, so he can still jump ahead with a big finale. And, as long as he doesn’t lose $200 or more, he’s in the playoffs.

9. Mr. Marbles (-$700; NR)
Marbles won $300 and now holds the final playoff spot. The playoff clinching scenario for Mr. Marbles is simple: win $100 and he’s in the postseason. Anything negative and he opens the door for a handful of franchises to sneak into the January dance.

10. Rick Moranis (-$1,200; 10)
Rick had the opportunity to solidify his playoff spot in Week 16 but instead he lost $300 and is on the outside looking in right now. He needs a $500 week and some help to get into the postseason.

The Top Ten: Week 16

by The Executive Director

Commentary: With just two weeks to go in the regular season we bid adieu to The Beard of Zeus, who lost his wild card, and T-Ferg, who was eliminated via the Chris B. Corey rule. The only division leader that changed this week was in the East, where it’s a three horse race. The race for the final few playoff spots is tightening up, and Week 16 will be crucial in determining who can coast into the playoffs and who will be biting their nails in Week 17. There are a handful of franchises in contention that still have their wild card bets, but if any of those franchises loses the big bet, it will break the playoff race wide open.

Here are the seven franchises that can still bet their wild cards:

East: None
North: Bayonnaise; Boss Hardigan
South: Kiko Garcia; The 21th Precinct; The Notorious ABT; Will Cover
West: The People’s Champ

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($1,200; 1)
Kimmy eked out $100 in Week 15 and now enjoys a $700 lead in the South and a $600 lead for the overall title. However, both of these races might be in jeopardy since Kiko still has his wild card bet.

2. Teddy KGB ($600; 4)
A huge week for Teddy, who won $500 and now has a gigantic lead in the West. He’s up by $1,700 with two weeks to play, and seems to have it almost wrapped up. Teddy now sets his sights on the overall title.

3. Kiko Garcia ($500; 3)
As mentioned above, Kiko is in position to make a run at Kimmy both for the division and overall lead. But losing his wild card bet could crush his playoff dreams if the rest of the league catches up to him.

4. Bayonnaise ($300; 2)
A rough week for Bayonnaise, who lost $300 and can’t seem to break away in the North. He’s up by $600 in the division and is by no means safe. He has his wild card bet available, but at this point there is more risk than reward if he uses it.

5. Will Cover ($0; 5)
Another week goes by and Will wins $100, remaining in playoff position. There’s a slim chance he could catch Kimmy these last two weeks if he wins his wild card, but much like Bayonnaise, he’s likely to hang onto it for now.

6. Gordon Bombay (-$300; 9)
A big Week 15 for Bombay, who won $500 and went from third to first in the East. He’s in the catbird’s seat right now, but only maintains a $200 lead at the moment.

7. The Phoenix (-$300; 7)
The Phoenix won $100 last week and is still trailing Bayonnaise for the North lead. The postseason race is heating up behind him, too, and a step in the wrong direction could doom him this week.

8. Karl Farbman (-$500; 8)
Farbman keeps trending positive, as he wins $300 and now trails Bombay by $200. Karl’s in playoff position but is by no means out of the woods.

9. Ron Mexico (-$700; 6)
A rough week for Ronnie, who lost $500 and dropped from first to third in the East. He holds the final playoff spot right now, but just barely.

10. Rick Moranis (-$900; NR)
Rick made a big move, winning $500 and getting back into the playoff race. A strong finish will get him into the postseason.

The Top Ten: Week 15

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Several franchises had setbacks in Week 14, exiting the playoff race (for now). Art Schlichter, Kenny Powers, and Yaz, all lost $500, so when it comes to this week’s Top Ten, it’s no soup for them. These power rankings sometime seem to be about nothing; just a listing of the top teams and movement. But if you take a closer look, there’s a different kavorka when it comes to this edition of The Top Ten.

Three weeks to go, and here are the eight remaining wild card bets available:

East: None
North: Bayonnaise, Boss Hardigan
South: Kiko Garcia, The 21th Precinct, The Notorious ABT, Will Cover
West: The Beard of Zeus, The People’s Champ

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($1,100; 1)
Kimmy won another $300 in Week 14, and enjoys a $900 lead on her division and a $500 lead for the overall crown. For now, she remains Master of Her Domain. Queen of the Castle.

2. Bayonnaise ($600; 3)
A big week for the ‘Naise as he wins $500 and now leads the North by a grand. He might be in perfect position to wager his wild card at season’s end with a chance to repeat as regular season champ. For those doubting the brains and prowess of Bayonnaise, he says, “They’re real. And they’re spectacular.”

3. Kiko Garcia ($200; 5)
Kiko went up $300 last week, but is still trailing Kimmy. He’s $1,000 ahead of the final postseason berth, so only a bad case of the jimmy legs these last three weeks will keep him from the playoffs.

4. Teddy KGB ($100; 2)
Teddy lost $100, but still has a $1,500 lead over the rest of the West. He’ll make a few bets these next few weeks, and yada yada yada, he should be a shoo-in for the division crown and the playoffs.

5. Will Cover (-$100; 4)
Will lost $100 and remains behind Kimmy and Kiko in his division, but sits comfortably (for now) in playoff position. Will can still pull the trigger on his wild card bet, too, though the risk might not be worth it. He could go through 2013 without using the big bet. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

6. Ron Mexico (-$200; 6)
Ron won $100 and still is in first in the East, but his lead experienced significant shrinkage last week, now only up by $600. He can’t blame the cold water in the pool this time.

7. The Phoenix (-$400; 7)
The Phoenix won $100 last week and stays in postseason position. He’s $1,000 out of the division lead, so it will take a strong charge to make a run at Bayonnaise. Formerly the resident hipster doofus of the FMFL, The Phoenix is a few short weeks away from his first playoff appearance.

8. Karl Farbman (-$800; NR)
Karl won $500 for the second consecutive week and now holds onto a coveted playoff spot. Not since the Moops invaded Spain in the 8th Century has someone had so much momentum.

9. Gordon Bombay (-$800; NR)
Gordon won his wild card bet to get into playoff contention and is percentage points behind Karl in the tiebreaker. Gordon has been a two-face this year, sometime hotsy-totsy, sometimes hotsy-notsy. He’ll try to stay in well-lit rooms the rest of the season.

10. Mr. Marbles (-$900; NR)
Mr. Marbles Won $500 on a three-teamer and now finds himself just $100 out of the postseason. He’ll need to keep it going in Week 15 to prove that he’s spongeworthy.

The Top Ten: Week 14

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Thanksgiving has come and gone, and our overall leader Kimmy Gibbler enjoys a nice-sized lead. With just four weeks left, a handful of franchises still have their wild card bets available, with many in position to make a big move in the final quarter of the season. Also, an under-the-radar storyline is that Babe is threatening to break the record for worst season ever, which is held by Blossom Russo and Chris B. Corey, who each finished a season at -$4,900.

Here are the franchises that still have their wild card bets available:

East: Gordon Bombay
North: Bayonnaise, Boss Hardigan
South: Kiko Garcia, The 21th Precinct, The Notorious ABT, Will Cover
West: The Beard of Zeus, The People’s Champ

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($800; 1)
Kimmy was able to win $100 in Week 13 and increased her lead in both the South and the overall. Two more good weeks and she could be home free.

2. Teddy KGB ($200; 6)
Teddy bounced back, winning $200, but still enjoys a pretty comfortable lead in the West. He switched to a more conservative betting approach last week and might be in prevent mode from here on out.

3. Bayonnaise ($100; 3)
Bayonnaise can’t seem to break away in the North. He lost $200, and still has a $600 lead, but this looked like the perfect week to create some distance between him and the rest of the division.

4. Will Cover ($0; 2)
Will stumbled last week, losing $400 and dropping back of Kimmy. He might be stuck between a rock and a hard place with his wild card bet. Win it and he could jump to take the overall lead. But lose it and he could miss the playoffs.

5. Kiko Garcia (-$100; 4)
Kiko lost $300 last week and is trending in the wrong direction. He also still has his wild card bet left with four weeks to go.

6. Ron Mexico (-$300; 8)
Ron has risen up to take a big lead in the East. He won $500 and now enjoys a $900 cushion, with his eyes on the overall leaderboard.

7. The Phoenix (-$500; 5)
A rough week for the Phoenix, who lost $500. He’s in playoff position, but one more bad week and he could be out of luck.

8. Art Schlichter (-$900; 9)
Art won another $100 last week, and is still treading water, it seems. He has a postseason spot right now, but hasn’t had any big swings – positive or negative – in the past few weeks.

9. Kenny Powers (-$1,100; NR)
Welcome to the big show to Kenny Powers, who won $500 and currently owns the last invite to the playoff dance. Kenny had a brutal start to the season, but has fought his way back into contention.

10. Yaz (-$1,200; 7)
No one lost more than Yaz in Week 13. He went from leading the East by $100 to trailing by $900 and is now out of the playoff picture. Still a long way to go, but last week has to sting.

The Top Ten: Week 13

by The Executive Director

Commentary: A relatively quiet week in the league, as there were no wild card bets placed. The two teams bet on most by the league — Kansas City and Carolina — both failed to cover by the smallest of margins, which kept many franchises from having stellar weeks. There is a vast gulf between the third and fourth wild card playoff spots, and the teams involved for those last two spots continue to shift. Five weeks to go, and still a lot to be decided in December.

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($700; 1)
Gibbler, not even thrown off by placing her bets from Thailand, won $100 for the week and maintains the overall lead. She only leads the South by $300 though, as one franchise rose up…

2. Will Cover ($400; 6)
…and that franchise is Will Cover. Will wins $500 on the week and is back on Kimmy’s heels, both in the division race and the sprint for the overall crown.

3. Bayonnaise ($300; 5)
Bayonnaise wins $100 and gets back into the top spot in the North, flip-flopping with The Phoenix. With just over a month left, the North race is heating up.

4. Kiko Garcia ($200; 3)
Kiko dropped $100 and is now $500 off the pace in the South Division. He’s sitting pretty in terms of the postseason, but has a great shot at winning some regular season money.

5. The Phoenix ($0; 4)
Phoe Phoe fell back in Week 12, losing $300 and losing his lead in the North. He’ll need a big Week 13 to keep the ‘Naise in his sights.

6. Teddy KGB ($0; 2)
Just when things were looking up for Teddy, he drops $500. The good news is that he has a $1,400 lead in his division, so only a Waldo Geraldo Faldo-esque collapse will keep him from making the playoffs.

7. Yaz (-$700; 7)
Yaz continues to trend positive this week. He didn’t win $500, but notched $100 to keep his lead in the East.

8. Ron Mexico (-$800; NR)
Ron is right behind Yaz after a big week. He only trails by $100 and is now also in line for a postseason berth.

9. Art Schlichter (-$1,000; 9)
Art eked out $100 and would be the owner of the final playoff spot if the season ended today. However, it doesn’t end today.

10. Gordon Bombay (-$1,100; NR)
Bombay is just $100 out of the posteason, and it’s worth noting that he is the only franchise in the East that has not used his wild card bet.

The Top Ten: Week 12

by The Executive Director

Commentary: We are getting closer and closer to the home stretch, and the races for playoff spots are heating up. There’s a big drop off after the top six franchises, all of whom seem to be destined for the postseason, barring a disaster in December. Behind them, nearly half of the league is within shouting distance of the final few playoff berths. With six weeks to go, it’s a good time to take a look at which franchises still have their wild card bets available. 19 are gone and 9 remain. They are listed below:

East: Gordon Bombay
North: Bayonnaise, Boss Hardigan
South: Kiko Garcia, The 21th Precinct, The Notorious ABT, Will Cover
West: The Beard of Zeus, The People’s Champ

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Kimmy Gibbler ($600; 4)
Kimmy won $500 for the third week in a row and she is your new overall leader. Not so long ago she was down and out after losing her wild card, but she has come roaring back.

2. Teddy KGB ($500; 5)
Teddy had a perfect Week 11 and increases his lead in the West. He is $1,400 ahead of the rest of the pack.

3. Kiko Garcia ($300; 2)
Kiko remained even for the week, but lost some ground in the race for the South. He’s $300 behind Kimmy.

4. The Phoenix ($300; 6)
Somehow, someway, the Phoenix won $500 on a three-teamer and is now leading the North by $100. Rick Moranis once had a season of clarity and glory – is the same thing happening to The Phoenix?

5. Bayonnaise ($200; 3)
The Naise was usurped in the North by The Phoenix, but he’s only $100 back. Bayonnaise is also in prime position for the playoffs.

6. Will Cover (-$100; 1)
Will lost $500 and fell back to third in the South, which was a huge considering the $1,000 swing with Kimmy. He’s now $700 off the lead.

7. Yaz (-$800; NR)
Yaz won $500 for the third straight week and rockets up to the top of the East Division. The rest of the East is doing everything in their power to lose each week, and Yaz is taking advantage.

8. Face (-900; 10)
Face went up $100 for the week and is back in the mix for the playoffs. His dreams of winning the West might be over, though, considering the gap.

9. Art Schlichter (-$1,100; 7)
A bad week for Art as he loses $500 and drops all the way back to the final wild card spot, with a slim $200 lead on the closest threats. Week 12 could be a turning point for him.

10. Waldo Geraldo Faldo (-$1,300; 8)
Waldo also lost $500 finds himself on the outside looking in of the playoffs. It gets crowded quickly right after him, too, so there is little room for error.

Others receiving votes: Ron Mexico; Mr. Marbles; Boss Hardigan

11.12.2013

The Top Ten: Week 11

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Week 10 was relatively prosperous for the league, though three franchises (The Big Hurt, Don Mattingly, and T-Ferg) lost their wild card bets. The divisional races are starting to shape up. In the North and South, a few franchises are pulling away from the rest of the field. In the West, Teddy KGB enjoys a decent-sized lead. Not featured in The Top Ten this week is any team from the East Division. Ron Mexico won his wild card bet, but couldn’t break free from the pack. All seven franchises are within an $800 window, so it’s anyone’s game. As of now, no East team is in a spot to win a wild card berth, so it might be division title or bust to get into the playoffs.

The overall lead changed hands once again this week, but most of The Top Ten stayed the same, with the franchises jockeying for position. Seven weeks to go.

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Will Cover ($400; 2)
Up and down he goes. Will bounces back from an awful Week 9 with a perfect Week 10 to regain the overall lead. He holds a slim $100 advantage over the rest of the league.

2. Kiko Garcia ($300; 4)
Kiko won $500 and got ever so closer to Will Cover, both in the South Division race and in the sprint for the overall crown. The South title chase seems to be down to three franchises.

3. Bayonnaise ($300; 1)
Bayonnaise only dropped $100, but maintained his $500 lead in the North. He’s no longer in the top spot, but there is still a long way to go.

4. Kimmy Gibbler ($100; 5)
Gibbler is officially back, with two perfect weeks in a row. She’s also just $300 back in the hotly contested South.

5. Teddy KGB ($0; 6)
Teddy seems to be for real in 2013, winning $500 just one week after jumping to the top of the West. He enjoys the biggest lead of any first place team right now, so the division is his to lose.

6. The Phoenix (-$200; 3)
The Phoenix only lost $100 but stayed close to Bayonnaise in the North. He is in prime postseason position.

7. Art Schlichter (-$600; 7)
Art eked out $100 and remains in the playoff hunt. He’s $900 back of the division lead, and continues to be relevant, though one bad week by him would break the wild card race wide open considering the large group behind him.

8. Waldo Geraldo Faldo (-$800; 9)
Waldo dropped $100 for the week, but holds onto the final playoff spot. He’ll need to do work quickly if he wants to overcome the divisional deficit in the West.

9. Boss Hardigan (-$1,000; NR)
Another $500 week for Boss Hardigan aka the Bergen County Oracle. Much like the Brothers Grimm did so many centuries ago, the Brothers Savon are trying to create a fairy tale with this season.

10. Face (-$1,000; 8)
Face lost $300 and bounced himself out of a postseason spot. He’s on the borderline right now, just slightly ahead of a crowded pack of franchises desperately trying to climb up.

The Top Ten: Week 10

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Eight weeks to go, and the playoff races are beginning to tighten up. The overall lead continues to be a see-saw battle between Bayonnaise and Will Cover each week. Three wild cards were bet last week, one win, one loss and one push. The win belonged to Teddy KGB, who rose up to the top of his division. Right now 13 of the 28 franchises have used their wild card bets. The final playoff spot right now belongs to Art Schlichter, narrowly edging out Waldo Geraldo Faldo via the winning percentage tiebreaker. Not included in this edition of The Top Ten: The East Division. No franchise from the pitiful East could crack the list.

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Bayonnaise ($400; 1)
‘Naise got back on track last week, winning $300 and taking the top spot. However, he holds just a $500 lead on the North, so he’ll need to continue to bring his “A” game.

2. Will Cover (-$100; 3)
A rough week for Will, as he drops $500, but maintains his razor-thin lead in the South.

3. The Phoenix (-$100; 6)
The Phoenix continues to surprise everyone, including himself. He stays close to Bayonnaise in the division, and has a firm grasp on the top wild card playoff berth.

4. Kiko Garcia (-$200; 4)
Kiko won $300 and trimmed the deficit in the South, nipping at Will Cover’s heels. Does Kiko have what it takes to bring down the battle-tested WC?

5. Kimmy Gibbler (-$400; NR)
Gibbler went from the penthouse to the outhouse a few weeks ago, but she has clawed her way back into contention. A $500 week put her right back into the mix.

6. Teddy KGB (-$500; 10)
Huge week for Teddy, who won his wild card bet and now leads the West by $200. His division lead earlier this season was short-lived (just one week), so we’ll see how he does this time around.

7. Art Schlichter (-$700; NR)
Art came up empty in Week 9, losing $500 and dropping back in the division race. As mentioned above, he’s holding onto the last playoff spot.

8. Face (-$700; 7)
Face won $300, but his late bets brought that down to $200. If the season ended today, he’d be in the playoffs, but every dollar counts and that fine could come back to bite him.

9. Waldo Geraldo Faldo (-$700; 2)
Waldo is currently on the outside looking in for the playoff party, but is only $200 out of the division lead in the West. WGF looks to be in for the long haul.

10. The Notorious ABT (-$1,000; NR)
It hasn’t been pretty, but ABT has fought back to be within shouting distance of the contenders. He’s $300 out of the postseason, and just $900 back in the division lead in the South.

The Top Ten: Week 8

by The Executive Director

Commentary: We are almost halfway home in the 2013 season, and the standings aren’t getting any prettier. We now have one franchise in the positive, and a few others right behind him, but the final playoff spot right now is at -$900. Most of the field had Chicago on Sunday, so it made sense that the Bears failed to cover. Only Waldo Geraldo Faldo was victorious with his wild card bet, as two others faltered. Kimmy Gibbler decided to go for it all in Week 7, but lost a cool $1,000 and dropped all the way out of The Top Ten. On the bright side, she’s just $100 off the postseason bubble.

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Bayonnaise ($100; 1)
The Naise eked out $100 last week and pulls into the overall lead. He is also enjoying a $800 cushion in the North Division.

2. Waldo Geraldo Faldo (-$100; NR)
Week 7 was big for W.G.F. who won his Monday night wild card bet to take the lead in the West. He might as well go conservative for the rest of the season and bet five teams each week; no one in his division might catch him.

3. Will Cover (-$100; 7)
While others have idled in the South, Will decided to take full advantage of them. He won $500 last week, and jumps from third to first. He is a direct benefactor of Kimmy’s demise, and now holds a slim $300 lead in the divisional race.

4. Kiko Garcia (-$400; 4)
Kiko hasn’t made any big moves up or down the past few weeks, and he stays close to both the division and overall races. He’d have no problem making the playoffs if the season ended today.

5. Ron Mexico (-$600; 3)
Ronnie has had a season of highs and lows in 2013, and Week 7 proved to be no different. He loses $500, but stays atop the East Division, now with a $300 lead on two franchises.

6. The Phoenix (-$700; 6)
The Phoenix dropped $100 last week, but didn’t change spots in The Top Ten. He continues to hang around, and few thought at the beginning of the season that he would be relevant in October.

7. Face (-$800; NR)
Face bet a four-teamer and lost $100, but he currently holds one of the wild card berths. At this point, the most startling stat for Face is that in 2013 he is yet to fall asleep on the couch on Saturday night before making his picks.

8. Larisa Oleynik (-$900; NR)
A big move for Larisa as she wins $500 and weasels her way back into the division race and postseason contention. At this time last week she was $1,300 off the lead in the East. Now she’s just $300 back.

9. Bud Fox (-$900; 9)
Bud lost $300 and missed an opportunity to seize the lead in the East. He is holding onto the last playoff spot right now.

10. Teddy KGB (-$1,000; 5)
It was fun while it lasted for Teddy. He was leading the West last week, but then lost $500 and is now on the outside looking in for the playoffs.

The Top Ten: Week 7

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Six weeks in, and now none of the 28 franchises are in the black for 2013. Two wild card bets were placed last week, with The Phoenix winning and Face losing. It’s hard to say that anyone is out of it at this point, though the franchises at -$1,400 and above are at a severe disadvantage. It’s just a matter of who can pull it together and get hot for a few weeks. Since we are getting deeper into the season, the standings and picks sheet will include the overall leaderboard and the wild card standings as well. As a reminder, the four division winners will all make the playoffs, along with the top five non-division winners. Nine total franchises make it to the postseason.

(Total; previous ranking)

1. Bayonnaise ($0; 2)
In the bizarro Funny Money this season, losing a mere $100, as Bayonnaise did last week, to get back to even money, can mean that you are on top of the league. The Naise is #1 for now, with a $600 lead on the rest of the North Division.

2. Kimmy Gibbler ($0; 1)
Just when it seemed Gibbler could pull away, she was brought back to earth with -$500 week. Kimmy is still tied for the overall lead and leads the South by $300, but Week 6 was definitely a missed opportunity for her.

3. Ron Mexico (-$100; 9)
A huge week for Ronnie, as he wins $500 and jumps ahead in the East. From a picks and winning percentage perspective Ron has been the best in the league so far this season.

4. Kiko Garcia (-$300; 3)
Kiko continues to hang around, staying close to Kimmy. If the season ended today, he would have the first wild card berth.

5. Teddy KGB (-$500; NR)
Yes, you are reading this correctly. A BIG week for Teddy as he wins $500 and jumps up to first place in the West. It’s been some time since Teddy was relevant – will his stay in The Top Ten be a long one?

6. The Phoenix (-$600; NR)
Rising once again, The Phoenix won his wild card bet in Week 6, and is now tied for second in the North. Another historically downtrodden FMFL franchise, Phoe Phoe is primed to make a run at Bayonnaise.

7. Will Cover (-$600; 5)
Will dropped back this week, but is only $600 behind Kimmy in the South.

8. Gordon Bombay (-$600; 7)
Gordon just missed a perfect week (he can thank his boy Thomas Brady for that), so he’s $500 behind rival Ron Mexico in the North.

9. Bud Fox (-$600; 8)
Bud broke even this week, and is tied with Gordon in the East. His chances of making a run a the division crown might be slipping away.

10. The Big Hurt (-$600; 6)
The Hurt had a chance to prove all the pundits wrong, but failed to capitalize. He’s still trailing Bayonnaise, but is in good playoff position right now.
