The Top Ten: Week 13
Commentary: A relatively quiet week in the league, as there were no wild card bets placed. The two teams bet on most by the league — Kansas City and Carolina — both failed to cover by the smallest of margins, which kept many franchises from having stellar weeks. There is a vast gulf between the third and fourth wild card playoff spots, and the teams involved for those last two spots continue to shift. Five weeks to go, and still a lot to be decided in December.
(Total; previous ranking)
1. Kimmy Gibbler ($700; 1)
Gibbler, not even thrown off by placing her bets from Thailand, won $100 for the week and maintains the overall lead. She only leads the South by $300 though, as one franchise rose up…
2. Will Cover ($400; 6)
…and that franchise is Will Cover. Will wins $500 on the week and is back on Kimmy’s heels, both in the division race and the sprint for the overall crown.
3. Bayonnaise ($300; 5)
Bayonnaise wins $100 and gets back into the top spot in the North, flip-flopping with The Phoenix. With just over a month left, the North race is heating up.
4. Kiko Garcia ($200; 3)
Kiko dropped $100 and is now $500 off the pace in the South Division. He’s sitting pretty in terms of the postseason, but has a great shot at winning some regular season money.
5. The Phoenix ($0; 4)
Phoe Phoe fell back in Week 12, losing $300 and losing his lead in the North. He’ll need a big Week 13 to keep the ‘Naise in his sights.
6. Teddy KGB ($0; 2)
Just when things were looking up for Teddy, he drops $500. The good news is that he has a $1,400 lead in his division, so only a Waldo Geraldo Faldo-esque collapse will keep him from making the playoffs.
7. Yaz (-$700; 7)
Yaz continues to trend positive this week. He didn’t win $500, but notched $100 to keep his lead in the East.
8. Ron Mexico (-$800; NR)
Ron is right behind Yaz after a big week. He only trails by $100 and is now also in line for a postseason berth.
9. Art Schlichter (-$1,000; 9)
Art eked out $100 and would be the owner of the final playoff spot if the season ended today. However, it doesn’t end today.
10. Gordon Bombay (-$1,100; NR)
Bombay is just $100 out of the posteason, and it’s worth noting that he is the only franchise in the East that has not used his wild card bet.
